Raymore United is excited to announce the addition of sibling coaching duo Jacob Angell and Jessica Shumway, who will lead our U12 team for the 2026–2027 season. Bringing a shared passion for the game and a strong commitment to youth development, Jacob and Jessica combine playing experience, coaching knowledge, and a family-centered approach that aligns perfectly with the club’s values.

Coach Jacob Angell grew up playing both recreational and competitive soccer, building a strong foundation and love for the game that continued well into adulthood through indoor leagues until the age of 28. His transition into coaching began when his son developed an interest in soccer, sparking a new passion for mentoring young athletes. Over the past nine seasons, Jacob has dedicated himself to coaching, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and creating a positive environment for players to grow. His teams have found success on the field, including two first-place finishes, while consistently emphasizing effort, discipline, and enjoyment of the game. As a parent of a player on the team, Jacob brings an added level of investment and care, understanding firsthand the importance of development, communication, and creating a positive experience for every family involved. He brings a player-first mindset and a wealth of practical experience that will help guide and develop athletes during a key stage of their soccer journey.
Coach Jessica Shumway brings a lifelong love of soccer and a deep commitment to youth development to her coaching role. Having grown up playing the game, she understands firsthand the impact that strong coaching and positive team culture can have on young athletes. Over the past three years, Jessica has coached youth soccer with a focus on building fundamental skills, confidence, and a genuine passion for the sport. Known for her energy, encouragement, and ability to connect with players, she creates an environment where athletes feel supported and motivated to improve. Jessica emphasizes not only technical development but also teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth, helping players succeed both on and off the field. As a parent with a child on the team, she brings a unique perspective and commitment to fostering a positive, development-focused environment for all players.
Together, Jacob and Jessica bring a unique dynamic, combining their experiences and perspectives to create a collaborative and engaging coaching environment. Their shared values, passion for soccer, and dedication to developing young players make them an outstanding addition to Raymore United. We are excited to see the impact they will have on our U12 team in the upcoming season.
